Polycrystalline solar panels:

Polycrystalline solar panels are not like monocrystalline and they do not need any transformation. Silicon is used directly by melting and pouring in the boxes. This is the main difference between mono and polycrystalline. You can identify by its appearance. Its silicon cells are not in the cylindrical form. They are good at processing and less in price. They become hot slowly in the heated weather as compared to the monocrystalline solar panels.

Thin-film solar panels:

Thin-film solar panels are totally deferent from mono-crystalline and poly-crystalline solar panels. These solar panels are made of different types of materials. In these solar panels, advance material is used instead of silicon that makes them more efficient. These solar panels have a glass sheet on the top for protection. These are the three main materials for thin-film:

  • Cadmium telluride (CdTe)
  • Amorphous silicon (a-Si)
  • Gallium Selenide (CIGS)

They are portable and flexible. They are lightweight as compared to the mono-crystalline and poly-crystalline. But the issue is that they are low efficient in performance.
